Wheels on My Feet!!

I am the happiest when I am roaming around whether in BLR or the country side, forest, sea side. I just came back from a holiday but I feel like I want to go on another one! I itch to travel often. I wish I had chosen a career where that was the only option. Something to do with traveling. My father is a retired engineer from the KPTCL and every year he used to take us on 2 trips atleast. one during the Dassera holidays and another during summer vacations. So, that where i get my itch. So, now I am making do with 4 small holidays every year. Last year ended on a bright note. May to Waynad, August to Goa & December again to Dandeli, Karwar & Goa. This last trip was a week long action packed trip. Now, I am miserable that I need to wait till the end of the month to go on the next one...today at work was horrible. I am very irritated with the way things are going right now at W.O.R.K. But the dawn will hopefully start well and bring a new beginning!!

Bucket List - Places!!

Today, I was reading an article on Yahoo about the End of World in December 2012 and a bucket list of the 10 most beautiful places in this world to be visited before the Apocalypse.
I started my sojourn into the World books (that too Mills & Boon) about 14 years ago, and from the time I started reading them I have been in & out of these magical faraway lands. These books put such good impressions on my young mind that I just wanted to pack up my bags and go see these wonderful places. Also, the bi-yearly trips that our parents took us on helped me to nourish this need of seeing the wonder of a new place and experience it firsthand.
Here, I have a list of 10 places I would like to visit before the World ends…………..

1. Venice – this is the 1st place on my must-see list. Do you know? This city has an average of 50 thousand tourists a day. The Gondola ride on the Grand Canyon is going to be amazing. My parents visited in May this year and they are awe of this place. The whole city surrounded by water and small bridges to cross the multiple canals…The Venetian Masks & the Venetian Glass are world famous. The Carnival of Venice is like none other.

2. Amsterdam – is the capital of Netherlands. This place is full of canals. This is the World’s biggest exporter of Flowers.

3. Paris – The city of Love! It is world famous for its many museums. The Louvre, Tuileries garden, champs-Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower etc are a charming part of the city & its architecture.

4. Egypt – Was founded in the year 3150 BC by King Menes. This is the ancient desert land of the Mummies, pharohs & the Sphinx . This is one of the first civilizations of the world. The best thing to do here is to spend time at the ruins and go on a cruise on the river Nile which is the longest river in the world.

5. New Zealand – for its various flora & fauna and its natural beauty. It is a paradise for the adventurer in you. It was the place where Lord of the Rings was made.

6. Cyprus – is one island that influenced my imagination very much from the books I read. It is the 3rd largest island in the Mediterranean Sea.

7. Scotland – for its great castles, of the Loch ness monster, Bag pipers, kilts and the best of all the “SCOTCH”. Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland.

8. Greece – After watching the movie Chalte Chalte, I have just fallen in love with the Greek Island of Mykanos

9. Switzerland – After watching the innumerous movies of Yash Chopra. The snow-capped mountains, Eurail, chiffon-clad heroines dancing in the freezing temperatures

10. Himalayas – At last but not the least, our own true mountain range Himalayas, again for their snowclad mountains, fast-flowing rivers, those curvy zig-zag roads, the awesome scenic view and also because they are ours! If you have ever visited the Himalayas in life, you would also have awesome unforgettable memories that cant fade away with time. Even now if I close my eyes and think about the place I can even remember the smallest of pebbles in the clear blue green waters of those innumerous rivers which go around a bend with so much enthusiasm.

There are many more places on my wishlist but as I said 10, I am giving you only 10.

Lost & Found!!

I couldnt resist putting up this post about my anklet....please find below the picture of the said accessory...............

I have had this anklet for more than a year & i wear it on my left foot. I bought it from this little basement shop in Gandhi Bazaar - for people who dont know where or what thi place is - it is an area in South Bengalooru and a paradise for good traditional food & very traditional shopping, with Vidhyarthee bhavan on one end & Upahara Darshini on the other of DV Gundappa road :-)!

I just paid about 20 bucks for this but I really fell in love with this because of the color combo. It has become quite loose as it is just a strand of elastic with small colorful beads.

Coming to the point on the topic - While on holiday in The Great Outdoors, Karwar. We had the small little beach to just ourselves and we were all being small kids. We were running on the beach and jumping into the water screaming. So, on one such jump my anklet slid off from my foot into the water and i did not realize until some time later. Only then i noticed it was missing.

I was a little sad because of my attachment to it. I was telling hubby on the trek back from the beach as he was carrying our daughter.

We went to the beach again the next afternoon and the daughter was playing at the edge of water. Suddenly, she screamed "amma" and I wondering what happened, looked at her and she had "my anklet" dangling from her tiny fingers...she is like - amma see - i found your anklet which you lost yesterday. I was so happy that she had found it for me! If it was anyone else they wouldnt have noticed it at all!! Shud I say it was just pure co-incidence or my anklet trying to find me through my daughter (too melodramatic even for me???)- I am sure my 3 best friends would totally agree on this!!. Now, I have it back where it belongs!! :-)

The daughter makes sure I tell this story to everyone who will listen - about her finding my lost anklet :-)

So I thought why not make it immortal and after some years for her to read my blog and think I told it to everyone who read it from all those years!!! ;-) nice idea! what say?????

Day 2 - Outfit 3

I wish I had taken a full-length picture of this outfit...My mum picked up this little white dress from her trip to Thiland 4 months ago..she gave it to me with a lot of conditions!

1. dont wear it near our house, in our area, around my relatives

2. Wear it wen u go out on your innumerous trips :-)

So, I took this cutesy little frock on my vacation.

It is just a knee-length frilly frock with laced peterpan collar which is all the rage now! but my only gripe is it has satin lining inside :-(

It is a thin chiffon based material in off-white with black polka dots. I wore it with a 2-toned bracelet (again from the sale ) and a very traditional looking jhumka in pearl & gold..but dont you think it complements the dress & me?? I think it was a good decision!!! what say you???

Day 2 - Outfit 2

This was my 2nd outfit on the trip.

I wore this blue & white striped loose shorts from Splash - which was a gift from RN (thanks RN)

with a white t-shirt bought from a shopping trip to Tirupur. I wore this linked ring chain that I picked up from yet another sale here in Bengalooru. I should have taken a clear picture of the chain though.... lot of learing for the next time!! :-)

Outfit post 1- Dandeli

Now finally for the most exciting part of my holiday planning, my wardrobe!
I had planned properly and co-ordinated my outfits for this trip, even the accessories except the footwear.

Day-1- Karwar

This was the first outfit in Dandeli. I wore this grey linen pant with rose-mauve loose top.

Wore it with multi-hued beaded necklace I picked up from Arambol beach in Goa and multicolor beaded bracelet to match the necklace from a handicrafts sale in namma Bengalooru.

Christmas Vacations - Photos

Now that I am back from an amazing trip to Dandeli, Karwar & Goa...posting some pics of the same here!
